The skiing capital of India- Auli
Auli is a Himalayan ski resort and hill station
in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand. It’s surrounded by coniferous and oak
forests, plus the Nanda Devi and Nar Parvat mountains. A long cable car links
Auli to the town of Joshimath. North of Auli are the colorful Badrinath Temple,
a Hindu pilgrimage site, and the Valley of Flowers National Park, with its
alpine flora and wildlife like snow leopards and red foxes.
The snowy wonderland-
Thajiwas glacier
Thajiwas Glacier which lies at a distance of 3
km from Sonamarg in Kashmir is an exquisite beauty situated 3000 m above sea
level covered in snow all through the year. The glacier is one of the most
significant assets of Jammu and Kashmir and a must-visit for all the nature and
trekking lovers. One gets to experience the beauty of the glacier by trekking
all the way there from Sonamarg. There is also the option of hiring a pony to
get to the glacier. On the way to the glacier, the tourists get to witness the
beauty of the silver shining frozen lake along with all the greenery around.
The contrast of both of them is what makes it enchanting to the eyes. On the
way, the tourists also come across Gujjar tribes who have their camps set up
and earn their livelihood here
With water so clear
it sparks optical illusion- Dawki, Shillong
Dawki Bridge, is a suspension bridge
over the Umngot River. It was constructed in 1932 by the British. Umngot flows through Dawki, a small but busy
town in the East Jaintia Hills district near the Indo-Bangladesh border. The
town itself is a mere 95 km from Shillong. Dawki
serves as a busy trade route between India and Bangladesh where hundreds of
trucks pass every day.
The Umngot itself is a prime fishing spot for fishermen from
nearby areas. the water is so clear that when
seen from a distance, it appears as if the boat is floating in mid-air!
A beloved winter destination of India-
Manali, Himachal Pradesh
Manali is a
high-altitude Himalayan resort town in India’s northern Himachal Pradesh state.
It has a reputation as a backpacking center and honeymoon destination. Set on
the Beas River, it’s a gateway for skiing in the Solang Valley and trekking in
Parvati Valley. It's also a jumping-off point for paragliding, rafting and
mountaineering in the Pir Panjal mountains, home to 4,000m-high Rohtang Pass.
Mesmerizing with the Colonial charm-
Dal Housie, Himachal Pradesh
Dalhousie is a
high-altitude town spread across 5 hills near the Dhauladhar mountain range in
the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It's home to colonial-era
buildings, including St. Francis and St. John’s churches, which date back to
the rule of the British Raj in the 1800s. A trek up Dainkund Peak leads to
Pholani Devi Temple. To the north, Subhash Baoli is a peaceful area with pine
trees and panoramic views.
